Seeing Celestia show up made me headcanon that she didn't banish Luna to the moon, but rather moved her there where the taint left behind by Discord couldn't infect her. She put her back in her childhood as a sort of stasis, on the moon, knowing she'd be well looked-after by the locals.
that's a neat thought! for Moonstuck though, it's explicitly an AU about Discord's first defeat during Luna's childhood. the way it turned out, I think Nightmare Moon either happened very differently or didn't at all.
oh! no, it takes place during Luna and Celestia's childhood, and covers them discovering the Elements of Harmony and using them to dethrone Discord and imprison him. it was pretty much always an alternate universe, 'cause I wanted to mess around with the canon characterizations and stuff a bit (mostly with Discord himself). it went past what even I expected though!
Having just finished reading the entirety of Moonstuck in one night (Damn you for keeping me up past four in the morning.), I'm left with a question that doesn't seem to have been completely answered in cannon.
Woona can breathe based on exuding a magicute aura that interacts with the solid matter on their moon to turn it into breathable air. It works on liquids and all manner of things except for goo apparently. Does Woona then leave a trail of vaporized lunar matter behind her wherever she goes, having consumed the terrain for her air supply? Given this lack of atmosphere, how is it possible to have liquid oceans inside the moon unless they're sealed completely by the surface which they're not as the characters are seen exiting pools of water on the surface? Gravity isn't the prerequisite for material states but pressure. The boiling point of a material changes with the relative pressure of the atmosphere around it. Water's boiling point is hit way before the vacuum of space is reached so it seems reasonable that there would either be deep columns of water vapour being held in by gravity, or huge plumes of pretty cold steam erupting from holes in the moon.
Of course the birds, trees, and plants don't bother me at all wen they're operating in a vacuum. By the established lore, being cute means you get to breathe. Every living thing on the moon could be considered to be cute. ... Except for the nasty slime monsters that wouldn't need to breathe anyways.
Anyways I thoroughly enjoyed this little adventure. Have fun in your future works!
Hmm. Justification accepted. People have survived falls from over 20 000 feet at terminal velocity without a scratch from sheer badass. Breathing in a vacuum through epicute, relatively, must then be possible!
Little Woona grew up so much through the story~ I only just finished the entire thing this morning and man~ I miss it already. :c But I look forward to everything that Egophiliac releases anyway, cause she's just too cool for some of the rules~
