I was hoping for a less cliché title, but I couldn't come up with anything better (other than "cygnet ring", which pleases me with its awfulness but isn't as fitting). Oh well.
Anyway, some discussion on this picture reminded me of three things: 1) Princess Tutu is freaking awesome; 2) tutus are fun to draw; 3) Princess Tutu is freaking awesome. I recommend it to anyone who likes fairy tales, magical girls, ballet, classical music, pretty sparkles, and any combination thereof. Or to anyone who just likes stuff that is generally good.
Unfortunately it ended up rather slapped-together composition-wise, partly because I completely changed directions about halfway through (literally, it was a lot more horizontal at first). A lot of inspiration came, of course, from The Swan Princess movie, because I love sparkly waves, fight me.
Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on this on tumblr; you guys gave me some great advice that I think ultimately saved this.
And once again something is telling to watch Princess tutu...again...for the 4th...maybe 5th time xD I love her soft expression so very like the white swan, of swan lake

How did you know?! I literally JUST finished watching Princess Tutu on Netflix! Seeing such amazing fanart of it is a great way to finish off the series.

You know, I've never seen Princess Tutu but this picture REALLY makes me want to. It's just so...pretty and wavy. Also, I have a massive weakness for anything shiny and sparkly. Really nice work! She just looks so happy
I loved the anime Princess Tutu, so it's great to see such a lovely piece with her dancing so joyfully. It may not have been Ahiru's wish to be stunning and graceful, but she does it fantastically here. The pastels and haze give it a very dreamy feeling, though her delicate details still stand out quite well. (She looks a bit older than I remember, but it has been years since I've seen it.)
